St. Lawrence Health (SLH) is excited to announce that effective Saturday, April 30, 2022, it will be transitioning over to a new and modern patient records system.

Epic is the preferred electronic medical record system used by more than 250 health care organizations nation-wide. To date, 45 percent of the US population have their medical records in an Epic system.

Commitment to care and safety

SLH President David Acker noted the migration to Epic will be another example of the system’s institution-wide commitment to exceptional patient care and safety. The adoption of this premier technology, an investment of this scale, also illustrates the benefits of RRH/SLH affiliation and the commitment to advance healthcare in St. Lawrence County.

“This is a momentous occasion for the communities we serve; an extraordinary milestone in how the future of health care will be accessed and managed right here in the North Country,” Acker said.

All SLH hospitals and provider offices will be adopting the Epic system on the same day, and from that day forward patients’ health records can easily and securely be shared with other health care providers within and outside SLH. Although SLH staff members have undergone extensive training, they will appreciate their patients’ patience during the first few days of the transition as their familiarity with Epic strengthens.

“The Epic system is designed to bring patients and providers together like never before to improve patient care quality, communication, safety, and efficiency,” Mr. Acker said. “The care coordination and patient engagement between our providers and patients will make for a more positive experience for both. Further, the mobile apps can keep our patients connected wherever they go.”

Changes for patients

To improve the patient experience even further, Epic’s MyCare patient portal offers SLH patients an easy-to-use platform to:

  • Access their inpatient and outpatient records through one convenient portal, including test results
  • Request prescription renewals
  • Message their provider’s office
  • Pay St. Lawrence Health bills for services rendered on or after April 30, 2022

Notable changes for patients include:

  • Existing portals of Healow for CPH, CPMP, GH, MH; Hixny for You; and My Health Portal will no longer support messaging or prescription renewal
  • Billing statements will have the Rochester Regional Health logo on them

To access all of the benefits MyCare has to offer, patients are encouraged to establish an account through a very simple process that can be completed via cell phone and/or website.
