As a Primary Stroke Center, CPH focuses on improving stroke care for the community. Special procedures are in place to give patients fast and appropriate treatment when they come to the Hospital with stroke symptoms. It is crucial for everyone, including the average citizen, to know the signs of a stroke and understand the importance of acting quickly. Stroke symptoms can include sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body. The acronym for "BE FAST" is a commonly used tool for recognizing the signs of a stroke. Each letter in the acronym represents a specific symptom to look for:

B - Balance: Sudden loss of balance or coordination
E - Eyes: Sudden vision changes or trouble seeing in one or both eyes
F - Face: Sudden weakness or drooping on one side of the face
A - Arms: Sudden weakness or numbness in one arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
S - Speech: Sudden difficulty speaking or slurred speech
T - Time: Time is of the essence
